A film by Elizabeth Rossano
Synopsis & Background
Maria goes out to feed her lambs and milk her ewes on a bitterly cold evening in February while her husband Josh shovels the piles of snow blocking their front door with the tractor. The setting is the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, USA on a farm called Cate Hill Orchard & Creamery.
This short documentary is part of an ongoing project called "How Do We Human?" — short documentaries about people trying to do life on Earth the right way. Josh & Maria run a small, organic farm in a rural area, trying to live out their dream of working harmoniously with the land they live on to survive an be happy.
Part of what makes them happy is their love for singing traditional folk songs from around the world, songs that celebrate nature and farming. Their singing and events they hold as well as their work needed to sustain the farm are all documented in the How Do We Human? project.
